ABOUT THE 1970 GMT AUTOMATIC
1970 GMT Automatic is the result of a careful design process and the use of quality materials. Features a Swiss Made automatic Sellita movement, a characteristic burgundy-gold bezel, a date and 24-hour GMT complication which gives you both a utility and decorative addition to the everyday.
First created for pilots flying across time zones in a matter of hours, the GMT function kept track of both the local time and the time in the place from where they departed. No longer exclusive to the first great travellers of the world, the 1970 GMT Automatic is the indispensable companion as you embark on your next adventurous travels.
This timepiece is made to please the quality connoisseur who values good craftsmanship and watches made to be worn. With the intention to create something worthy of appreciation for decades to come, the 1970 GMT Automatic should be enjoyed on your wrist as you explore the far corners of the world or simply discover your neighbourhood with new eyes.
SWISS MADE MOVEMENT
Inside the 40mm wide stainless steel watch case resides an entirely Swiss Made automatic Sellita GMT movement with a central rotor winding, up to 42 hours power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 A/h and 25 jewels, minimising friction between metal components in the clockwork.
All of its complications include a 24-hour hand, quick date correction, independently-adjustable 24-hour GMT hand and hacking seconds. The Sellita SW330 belongs to the Sellita SW300 family and was first introduced in 2015. It’s a reliable powerhouse of a movement ready to work for you, time and time again.

How-to-use the GMT complication?
On our GMT models up to three time zones can be set. The bezel has a total of 24 markers which reference 24 hour time with meridian in Greenwich, London.
Make sure the bezel is in its standard position by aligning its 24H with 12H on the dial. Set the watch to your current local time by pulling the crown to 2nd position. Hereafter, pull the crown to 1st position and turn clockwise to adjust the GMT hand to home time (the place from where you will depart) until it matches with the 24-hour bezel. If your current time is 11.00am, you simply turn the GMT hand until it reaches 11 on the bezel.
Now, if you land in a timezone one hour ahead and wish to adjust your watch to your current timezone, pull out the crown to 2nd position and set the time one hour ahead using the hour and minute hand. Now, you know your current time (showcased by hour and minute hand) as well as the time in the place from which you departed (showcased by the GMT hand).
If you wish to set a third timezone, you rotate the bezel. Find out how many hours your third timezone is either ahead or behind your home time (showcased by the GMT hand). If your desired timezone is six hours ahead, you rotate the bezel six clicks (six hours). Now, using the pre-set GMT hand, you will see the third timezone on the bezel. Voliá!
DID YOU KNOW?
You don’t need to be (or have been) a boy scout to know your way around. It just so happens that the GMT complication can also be used as a compass. Simply set the GMT hand to local time and lay the watch flat and point the hour hand toward the sun. The 12H marker now points north (in the northern hemisphere) or south (in the southern hemisphere). With a GMT watch around your wrist you’re well equipped for every challenge life has to offer. It’s a cool party trick, too…
